HISTORIC COURTHOUSE BUILDINGS - PRESERVATION AND REHABILITATION
CONCLUSION

Page & Turnbull's involvement with the rehabilitation of the California State Building and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals/Main Post Office presented many challenges which demanded inventive solutions. San Francisco is fortunate that the preservation of these two buildings was never seriously questioned, despite the costs of seismically retrofitting and restoring historic materials and craftsmanship. Most familiar with these two buildings realize that they are irreplaceable. They are important San Francisco landmarks and extremely significant to the nation as well. Thanks to the efforts expended upon their behalf, these buildings will continue to steadfastly maintain a presence in our ever-changing society.
