St. Joseph’s Church

Page & Turnbull is the preservation architect and entitlements consultant for the adaptive reuse of Saint Joseph’s Church. The former Catholic church is San Francisco Landmark #120 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The church had been vacant for more than twenty-five years and was severely deteriorated. Work included seismic strengthening, accessibility upgrades, and various renovations to bring the property into compliance with current building and safety codes. A new free-standing mezzanine was installed in the historic sanctuary, and seismic work was sensitively designed to minimally affect historic materials and interior volume.
